In the lesson we learnt five different codes which are used to tell something to the audience. The hermeneutic code also known as the enigma code is the question which the audience will be thinking about what will happen next and want to find out the answer. The hermeneutic code was used to gain interest from the audience to make them want to watch more. Also, the hermeneutic code is used to attract the audience so that they would want to know what happens as the movie goes on which wouldn't make it boring for them to watch. e.g. Kidulthood which was the prequel to Adulthood really caught the audience's eye which is why Adulthood made such a huge income, all because the audience wanted to know what happened after Kidulthood.
Partial Answers was also another term which we learnt in the lesson which meant when there a little piece revealed to the audience about what was going to happen throughout the film then in it showing the audience what happens next at the end of the movie.
The third term we learnt was Equivocation which was a term to confuse the audience to keep them interested in the film. A good example of this was the Deputy Judy Hicks who was played by Marley Shelton. Now most of the audience would have thought she was the ghostface who was behind all of the murders in Woodsboro which would have made the audience think that it would have been to obvious to be her which lead the audience to be even more interested in the movie and then when the murderer gets revealed the audience will all be really confused and think why she was the one behind it all?
Jamming was the fourth term we learnt in the lesson which meant a problem that could never be solved.
Finally, the last code was called The Proairetic Code which is also known as the action code which means that it relates to any other scene or action which shows the audience that something else is about to happen.
